Before Tom Selleck became a TV star known for "Magnum P.I." and "Blue Bloods," he was known for smelling really good, thanks to a career as a commercial pitchman.
"Live! with Kelly & Michael" dug up one of Selleck's old Safeguard soap commercials from 1970 that features the actor, without his now-trademark mustache, walking by two ladies in an office. "He smells just the way a man should smell," they marvel.
When Selleck pointed out that they'd left out the obligatory commercial shot of him using the product in the shower, Kelly Ripa was outraged. "Wait, is that part of that commercial? We have to get that one too," she shouted. And when "Live!" came back from commercial, they replayed that part of the ad. "I could watch that every day for the rest of my life," Ripa confessed.
Selleck dabbled in other TV commercials during the early days of his career, including a 1977 ad for Ban Basic spray deodorant.
