Ann Romney Almost Yelled At Reporters Covering Her Husband: NYT

Ann Romney was so angry with reporters covering her husband's chaotic foreign trip in August that she had to be held back from yelling at them, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

Mitt Romney's trip to Europe turned into a PR disaster after he wondered aloud whether Britain was ready for the Olympics and made disparaging remarks about Palestinians, among other things. It all led up to the infamous moment when a Washington Post reporter called out to Romney, "What about your gaffes?" The Romney camp was so on edge about the press that spokesman Rick Gorka shouted "kiss my ass" at reporters while at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Poland.

Aides yelling at journalists is one thing. It would have been quite another had Ann Romney done what, according to the Times, she wanted to do at one point. "Mrs. Romney was so livid about the news media's coverage that she had to be persuaded not to walk to the back of the campaign plane to upbraid reporters, according to multiple aides," the paper's Michael Barbaro, Ashley Parker and Sheryl Gay Stolberg wrote.

A hint of what Ann Romney is going through peeked through when she upbraided some of her husband's Republican critics recently, saying, "Stop it. This is hard."
