Jane Fonda Sells Hollywood House For $8.5 Million (PHOTOS)

Was it just a case of bad karma for activist-actress Jane Fonda to be living in a Hollywood Hills house built for former President Ronald Reagan? Well, the good news is that she just sold the place for $8.5 million and order has been restored to our political feng shui.

The five-bedroom traditional-style home was built in 1942 for actor Reagan and his first wife, Jane Wyman (a.k.a. "Not Nancy.") Speaking of Nancy, oddly enough, Fonda plays her in the upcoming movie "The Butler."

Fonda wrote on her blog that she heard from a mutual friend that the former first lady was pleased that Fonda was playing her. Nancy Reagan even obliged her with some character questions. Fonda wrote: "Because I have a scene walking down a White House corridor with then Secretary of State, James Baker, I wanted to know what she used to call him (Jim) and would she have linked her arm in his (no)."

Fonda expressed her admiration for Nancy as well, and notes that the filming in New Orleans came at precisely the time she was moving. She says of her new home: "It’s a perfect house for us. A good 3rd Act house, is how I describe it. Instead of the twinkling southern view of all Los Angeles and the ocean, we look out to the west (and a tad north) over hills. It’s a serene view." She promises photos.

Fonda shared the home she just sold with music producer Richard Perry, who has produced albums for Rod Stewart and Carly Simon. The view home has a pool, tennis court and Bailnese-style pool house.

Fonda, 74, won an Oscar in 1972 for her work in "Klute," and will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the movie next week in New York with a fund-raiser that benefits the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, a group she founded in 1995 while living in Atlanta. She earned another Oscar in 1979 for "Coming Home."
