'The New Normal': Jane Seeks Medical Help After What Turns Out To Be An Orgasm (VIDEO)

'The New Normal': Jane Freaks Out Over An Orgasm

Jane's character on "The New Normal" is written to be uptight and narrow-minded. On this week's installment, viewers were given a little insight into why that might be. After an unplanned sexual encounter, Jane was concerned about a sensation she experienced, and reluctantly opened up to Bryan -- an OB-GYN -- about it.

"Last night, I felt this very strange tingling sensation," she said. "Then I became very light-headed." She was concerned it might have been some kind of seizure, but Brian had another explanation.

"I believe you had what we in the medical profession refer to as an 'orgasm,'" he explained.

While the man she slept with turned out to be a bit of a jerk, the experience was a sort of sexual awakening for the normally repressed character. Could her loosening up and having some fun help open her mind to her daughter being surrogate for a gay couple?

Viewers will have plenty of time to find out as "The New Normal" was picked up for a full season by NBC. It airs on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET.
