Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown: MLB Commissioner Calls Tigers Slugger After Finishing Season (VIDEO)

WATCH: Cabrera Gets Special Phone Call After Triple Crown

Leading the American League in homeruns, RBI and batting average, Tigers' slugger Miguel Cabrera accomplished a feat so uncommon on Tuesday that it warranted a phone call from baseball's man in charge.

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig phoned the seven-time All-Star shortly after his game against the Royals to congratulate the 29-year-old on his historic Triple Crown title. Tigers manager Jim Leyland was there to express the same sentiment in a candid moment just before Cabrera answered the commissioner's phone call.

"I was going crazy," Leyland said, confessing his excitement. "It was the worst game of my life to ever manage."

Cabrera now joins an exclusive list of baseball icons, including Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, and Mickey Mantle. It was the game's first Triple Crown in 45 years. The player to lead his league in those three offensive stats was in Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.
