Christina Applegate dropped by "The Tonight Show," and by this point she almost had to know what to expect. It's become a staple of the show that Jay Leno and his team comb the archives to try and find some awkward footage from earlier in their guest's career to embarrass them with.
This time it was a commercial Applegate had appeared in back in 1983, before she hit the big-time as dim-bulb sexpot Kelly Bundy on "Married ... With Children." Applegate was delighted with the clip, though a little uncomfortable with the mean tone of the script.
It's been a long time since Applegate has had to do commercials to pay the bills. Aside from her work on "Up All Night," she has been tapped as the host of "Saturday Night Live" for the October 13 episode. The last time Applegate hosted "SNL" was nearly 20 years ago, but that episode introduced the world to Chris Farley's Matt Foley, the world's worst motivational speaker who just happened to live "in a van down by the river!"
Catch Christina Applegate every Thursday at 8:30 on "Up All Night" and on October 13 as host of "Saturday Night Live." "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" is on weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
