Robin Roberts had good news for her fans in her latest update on Thursday.
In a blog post for ABC News, she revealed that her body has responded positively to her bone marrow transplant thus far.
"The only numbers that matter are my blood counts and they are... GREAT!" she wrote on Thursday. "My sister Sally-Ann’s stem cells apparently feel right at home in my body -- an answer to so many prayers." She added that she is hopeful that she can leave the hospital and continue her recovery at home next week.
Roberts received the transplant two weeks ago to treat MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. She underwent draining rounds of chemotherapy in preparation for the procedure, and is now in the critical stage of treatment where the body accepts or rejects the new cells.
"My doctors and rock star nurses are very pleased with my progress and I could not be more thankful for the excellent care I am receiving," Roberts wrote. "I have had some extremely painful days and it’s still difficult for me to eat because of all the chemo."
She also said that her family and friends, including her "GMA" colleagues Josh Elliot and Sam Champion, have been visiting her in the hospital. She was with Elliot and other friends the night before checking into the hospital, and Diane Sawyer was in her hospital room before Roberts received the transplant.
