'The X Factor' Boot Camp: Two Contestants Go Head-To-Head With Tough Whitney Houston Song (VIDEO)

'The X Factor': Two Contestants Tackle Same Whitney Houston Song

The producers of "The X Factor" made a big deal of CeCe Frey during her first audition appearance. Not so much because of her singing, which was very good, but because of her backstage antics. She was harshly judging the other acts, and touting her own greatness. She continued that into the first stage of Boot Camp, but did she have the vocals to back up her talk?

Because of the presidential debate, "The X Factor" was only an hour, meaning the judges moved quickly through the first phase of Boot Camp. In it, 120 contestants were sitting on stage. One by one, they got up and performed in front of the judges, and with their competition behind them.

Several early favorites shined, with only a few familiar faces really faltering. But in an unexpected moment, two contestants who performed back-to-back both chose to tackle the ambitious song choice of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." Of course, one of them was Frey. The other was the more soft-spoken Paige Thomas.

After both had performed, Simon Cowell said that one of them had absolutely nailed it, but didn't specify which. But it as pretty obvious to PopCrush, who gave the edge to Frey. It wasn't an edge that made a difference, though, as both young women moved on to the next stage.

"The X Factor" continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
