Detroit -- Mayor Dave Bing announced the retirement of embattled Police Chief Ralph L. Godbee Jr. on Monday amid a scandal surrounding the top cop's alleged relationship with a subordinate female police officer.
Bing is holding a press conference Monday morning at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center to discuss the retirement. Godbee issued a retirement letter dated Monday, saying his resignation was effective "immediately."
