Katy Perry, John Mayer Break Up: Couple Break Things Off Again (REPORT)

Katy Perry & John Mayer Call It Quits Again

As the leaves start to change color and the weather gets chilly, it looks like Katy Perry and John Mayer's summer romance has also gone cold.

It was somewhat surprising when Perry, 27, began dating Mayer, 34, back in June, but the pair of singers never seemed to have any real staying power. After a few months of enjoying Los Angeles hot spots and pool parties together, the couple reportedly ended things on Aug. 23.

The breakup, as it turned out, was more of a break. The couple appeared to give things a second chance when they were spotted holding hands and kissing at the FYF music festival on Sept. 1.

But despite their best efforts, the relationship just wasn't working, according to RadarOnline's insider source, who claims that Mayer has a bit of a commitment problem and kept "luring Katy back with promises that he was going to change, but then he didn’t."

According to the source, Perry was looking for a more serious relationship than Mayer could provide, and eventually she decided to stop wasting her time. Reports of the latest breakup come just a few weeks after Perry was said to have tried to take things to the next level, and gave Mayer a key to her LA home.

Perry hasn't had a lot of luck when it comes to love lately. The "Part of Me" singer's divorce from Russell Brand was finalized in July, and she briefly dated Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, before taking up her romance with Mayer. However, Perry is never one to mope, and is reportedly planning a party on Oct. 23 -- the date of her would-be second wedding anniversary with Brand.
