Bears Fan Fatally Stabbed In Jacksonville

A Chicago Bears fan in Florida for his favorite team's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars met his tragic end before he was able to catch any football Sunday.

William Pettry, 42, of Lake Villa, Ill., was fatally stabbed shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday inside Fionn MacCool's, an upscale Irish bar and restaurant near Jacksonville Beach, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Pettry was stabbed during an altercation with two other people at the bar, which was located one block from the hotel where both the victim and the Bears team were staying, NBC Chicago reports.

Matthew Hinson, 27, of Jacksonville, was charged with one count of felony murder in the stabbing, according to ABC Chicago.

The Jacksonville County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that Hinson calmly "placed the bloody knife in his pocket and walked out of the restaurant" after the stabbing, according to eyewitness accounts.

Hinson admitted to the stabbing when interviewed by detectives, according to police. He is due to appear in court Monday.
