Anderson Cooper: 'I'm Done' With Star Jones

'I'M DONE'

Anderson Cooper said he turned down an invitation to face off with Star Jones on "Today," adding that he is "done" with her.

Jones earned Cooper's ire when she speculated that he came out as gay to boost his ratings. He made the announcement this summer in an email to writer Andrew Sullivan. Cooper recently took the opportunity to rip Jones on his daytime show.

"As memory serves, in terms of boosting ratings, I seem to recall [Star] hawking her wedding every single day to get free products when she was on 'The View' and I seem to recall her lying about her gastric bypass surgery and making everybody else lie about it as well," Cooper remarked at the time.

And that wasn't the last thing he had to say. The Hollywood Reporter reported he revealed in a taping for Wednesday that "Today" invited him to appear with Jones, who appears on the "Today's Professionals" segment.

"Don't get me in a war with Star Jones now," Cooper said. "I said my piece on Star Jones, I am not one to have a feud. She tweeted back something. I said my piece and then she tweeted me and I'm not responding. Actually, the Today show tried to book me to go on with Star Jones so we could tussle. I was like I've got nothing more to say, nor do I want to be in a room with her. I'm done."

Jones fired back at Cooper on Tuesday, tweeting, "Someone is a LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE. I would NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES agree to a 'debate' on my accurate statements ... BS."

When Cooper addressed Jones' comments for the first time earlier in October, he said that he had invited Jones to his show to discuss the matter further, but she turned him down. "I would think she would want as much publicity as possible given her penchant for wanting publicity," he had said.
