Chelsea Clinton's NBC News Contract Prevents Her From Campaigning: Report

How Chelsea Clinton's NBC Contract Is Holding Her Back

Chelsea Clinton has not been actively campaigning for President Obama during the 2012 election cycle because of her contract with NBC News, the New York Post reported on Thursday.

Clinton, who signed on with the network almost one year ago, has been noticeably absent from the campaign's front lines.

The former first daughter was a major presence during her mother's 2008 primary run. This year, she only moderated panel discussions at satellite events during the DNC and GOP conventions.

Clinton was hired as a correspondent for Brian Williams' prime time newsmagazine, "Rock Center." The addition was criticized by some who questioned Clinton's journalism credentials. She debuted to mixed reviews in December 2011 and returned for a second report in April.
