Jennifer Hudson Recreates A Whitney Houston '80s Outfit For Tribute Performance (PHOTOS)

Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, it's no surprise Jennifer Hudson decided to pay homage to Whitney Houston in both song and style while taping "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston" on Thursday night.

J Hud of course flexed her award-winning vocal chords for the CBS one-hour special, which will air on November 16. She performed a body-moving medley of some of Whitney's greatest hits: "I'm Every Woman," "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

But the 31-year-old "American Idol" alum took her tribute to the fallen star a step further by dressing in one of Whitney's icon 80s looks. Her black turtleneck, shoulder-padded blazer, high-waisted jeans and pointy-toe booties made up an almost identical ensemble worn by Whitney during a performance in 1987.

Jennifer perfected the look with a wild curly 'do, hot pink lip and punchy blue nail polish.

We know Jennifer's getup is essentially a costume, but she looks great. Good enough for us to reconsider wearing high-waisted jeans and shoulder pads? Not exactly, but she definitely knows how to rock an 80s look with style and grace. No small feat.

Make sure to tune into the CBS special on November 16 to see Jennifer's retro getup in action and a host of other celeb including Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Usher and LL Cool J paying tribute to Whitney.

In the meantime, check out Jennifer channeling the legend at last night's taping--and a look back at Whitney's most memorable style moments in the slideshow below.
