Peter Chadwick, California Executive, Arrested On Suspicion Of Murdering Wife, Quee

'Always Nice' Exec Suspected Of Murdering Wife

A California businessman is in custody on suspicion of murdering his wife, who has been missing since Wednesday.

According to an Oct. 12 report by the Los Angeles Times, Peter Chadwick, 48, of Newport Beach was arrested on Thursday and "booked in connection with the killing of his wife," 46-year-old Quee Chadwick.

At the time of his arrest, he was driving his Lexus in the San Diego area and had called police there.

A day before, Newport Beach police officers went to his home on Almanzora in Newport Coast to check on the welfare of the family. Detectives say a neighbor alerted authorities after she became concerned for the children when she discovered they had not been picked up from school earlier that afternoon.

Police officers say they saw "evidence of a struggle and possible foul play" when they entered the couple's multimillion dollar house, according to KABC.

Authorities will not reveal what Chadwick told them when he called on Thursday not far from the U.S.-Mexico border. However, police officials have said that the investigation has revealed that the man's wife was the "victim of a homicide," KTLA reports.

Yulianna Nikulina, a neighbor of the couple, told the Los Angeles Times that she was at home on the day of the suspected murder and didn't hear anything. But, she said that earlier in the week, she had heard a woman's scream coming from the Chadwick home.

The neighbor noted that the Chadwicks were typically polite and quiet, and she had never previously heard sounds of fighting coming from the house.

"[Peter Chadwick was] always nice, nothing wrong, nothing special," she told the paper. "I can only tell you good things about this couple."

Chadwick is being held on $1.5 million bail in the Newport Beach jail, NBC News reports.

The body of Quee Chadwick has yet to be found and police investigators say they are carrying out a widespread search of the areas believed to have been traveled by her husband before he called authorities early Thursday.

The couple has three children, aged 8, 10 and 14.
