WASHINGTON -- Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is no longer supported by at least one Republican in his district: Debbie Crowder, the wife of West's former GOP challenger Robert Crowder.

Debbie Crowder endorsed Democrat Patrick Murphy for Florida's 18th District seat on Monday, the Palm Beach Post reported. Crowder cited the fact that West wouldn't shake her husband's hand at a local GOP meeting over the summer as one of the reasons behind her endorsement of West's opponent.

“How will a man who could not extend his arm out for a simple handshake to his fellow Republican and the 20-year sheriff of Martin County be able to reach across the aisle to get things done in Washington?” Crowder wrote in an email distributed by Murphy's campaign.

Robert Crowder, who lost the August primary to West, has stayed out of the Murphy-West race.
