A Florida woman who allegedly bit her boyfriend’s 6-year-old son in a ‘biting game’ has been arrested and charged with child abuse, reports say.
According to NBC Miami, Rachael Bohbot of Boynton Beach, Fla., was arrested after her boyfriend’s young son told his mother that the 24-year-old had “bit him several times” over the course of a weekend that he had spent with his father.
When the boy came home, it appeared he had been hurt. He was limping. The boy said that Bohbot bit him on the leg while playing the “bite game.”
An investigating officer looked at the boy’s thigh and saw a fairly fresh bite mark.
“It was a contest to see who can bite the hardest between he and Rachael,” the police report says. ”[The boy] stated that he [lost] the game when his thigh was bruised.”
Though Bohbot initially denied playing the “bite game” and biting the boy, NBC Miami writes that she eventually confessed to biting the child on the shoulder “harder than normal.” This, the report says, had made the boy “cry uncontrollably.”
Bohbot, however, “had no reasonable explanation for how the bruise appeared on his thigh,” the report says.
Police charged Bohbot with child abuse without great harm and booked her in the Palm Beach County Jail, the Sun-Sentinel writes. She was later released on $3,000 bail.
This is not the first time in recent months that adults have been arrested for biting children.
In July, a Florida man was arrested after he allegedly bit a five-month-old baby and threatened the mother with a knife, ABC News reports.
Then in August, a Connecticut man was arrested after he allegedly bit his girlfriend’s 5-year-old on the shoulder to discipline the child.
“It was a 5-year-old child that suffered a bite wound at the hands of an adult, so it was taken seriously and the person was arrested for it,” Sgt. David Tammaro of the West Haven Police Department told WTNH.com at the time.
