An Amtrak train bound for metro Detroit jumped the tracks Sunday in Niles, injuring passengers and causing service disruptions that affected hundreds of people.

Amtrak said the train was carrying 174 passengers and four crew members. Fire officials said it was traveling about 60 m.p.h. when it jumped the tracks and stopped less than 10 yards short of coal cars sitting on an adjacent track.
