Ashley Madison Campaign Uses French Presidents' Affairs

French Leaders Featured In New Ashley Madison Campaign

Here is an ad that won’t go unnoticed. Ashley Madison, a Canadian extramarital dating service, is launching its website in France, and is making sure the French know about it.

The billboard ad features images of former French presidents (François Mitterand, Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy) and current President François Hollande with traces of red lipstick marks on their faces, under the question “What is their common denominator?”

The answer -- “They should have thought of Ashley Madison" -- implies their extra-marital relationships could have remained a secret had they only used the dating agency.

According to AFP, the website tried to hang its billboards in two major Parisian traffic hubs, but police prevented them from doing so. Earlier, the dating site had told HuffPost France that French billboard groups had refused to distribute the posters, because they judged the campaign too “political”.

The Telegraph reports that none of the living presidents in the poster have reacted yet, but a spokesperson for Ashley Madison said that the company is prepared for legal action.

Belgium is scheduled similar unconventional posters in the streets of Brussels on Tuesday, HuffPost France adds. Belgian King Albert’s picture will be seen between Prince Charles’ and Bill Clinton’s. All three figures have had their affairs widely covered by the press.
