WASHINGTON -- “Oh Jesus!”

Joe Biden’s here?”

“Oh my God! Oh my God!”

That was how dozens of women reacted when Vice President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to an Obama for America field office in Springfield, Ohio, on Tuesday night.

According to pool reports, Biden was greeted with shrieking when he unexpectedly walked in the room with a stack of pizzas for the volunteers. The field office had about 80 people in it, most of whom were women ages 50 and over.

“Oh Lord, please don’t let me faint,” volunteer Patrice Toliver said to a voter she was on the phone with. “He’s coming into headquarters right now!” When Biden approached, Toliver "abruptly hung up and stood still, seemingly shell-shocked," reads the press pool report from Politico's Donovan Slack.

"He’s so freakin’ personable!” said another volunteer, 74-year-old Ellen Wallace. “It’s unbelievable. He’s just a magnet.”

Another woman greeted the vice president by telling him, without being able to say hello first, that she makes sure to have "a cup o' Joe every morning." Biden apparently experienced a rare moment of speechlessness in response.

Biden didn't stay long. He posed for pictures and told a story about being bullied and how he later, on his mother's advice, punched the boy in the nose. But one volunteer who got to hug him gushed about being so lucky.

“It was the thrill of my life!” said Roxandra Antoniadis. “He’s magnificent.”
