'My Shopping Addiction': Woman Collapses In Store

New York can be a tough place to make it for anyone, but for Anna Medyukh the task proved even more difficult on "My Shopping Addiction." She found herself $15,000 in debt thanks to her addiction. She was also facing eviction because she hadn't paid her rent in five months.

All of this because she could not stop buying and spending money she didn't have. Furthermore, she never took anything back and had amassed more than she could use or really had room for. It was estimated that Anna had $20,000 worth of clothing in her apartment.

Evidence of the depths of her addiction appeared during an exercise with her therapist. When Anna was asked to leave a store without purchasing anything, she collapsed to her knees. "I just want to have nice things," she lamented. "It's not fair."

With encouragement from an employee of the store, Anna was able to leave without buying anything. And since then, she's found more success in battling her addiction. She's kept her shopping way down -- despite all the tempting stores the Big Apple has to offer -- and has moved into a more affordable apartment.

"My Shopping Addiction" chronicles new people afflicted every Monday at 11 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
