How Tom Hanks Almost Jammed With Bruce Springsteen On 'Late Night'

Tom Hanks had never appeared on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" before his visit Tuesday night. But he almost did. And it would have been an epic appearance if it had happened.

Hanks explained how he got a text from the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, inviting Hanks to perform with Springsteen on "Late Night," which Hanks was very excited about. "Bruce. I am so honored," Hanks said he texted back.

But then he got Springsteen's response. "Tommy! That text was meant for Tommy Morello of Rage Against the Machine." Luckily, Hanks wasn't available anyway, but what could have been! He even showed Fallon his chops on the guitar.

Back in March, Morello and Springsteen did perform together on "Late Night," but imagine what could have been. Now that Hanks has called out Springsteen on his texting mix-up, the two can get together and make it happen.

"Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
