What Your Bedside Table Says About You (PHOTOS)

You go to sleep next to it every night. It's the repository for the things you're reading (and intend to read) and perhaps your glasses, earrings, a watch, your phone, a glass of water, a favorite lamp. If there's a drawer, it might contain special notes you've saved or a notebook for recording late night epiphanies. Your night stand may say more about you than any other piece of furniture in your home.

Executive Lifestyle Editor Lori Leibovich reflected on this idea in a blog post Monday when she wrote, "all anyone needed to know about my life at that moment -- my struggles, my aspirations, my obsessions -- could be gleaned from the pile of books on my nightstand."

That's why we asked our community to submit photos of their nightstands to us via Twitter and Instagram. During the past few days, we have received pictures of everything from a lantern dimly lighting the tent of a woman on a safari in Botswana to a "water bottle party" of half-finished refreshments settling on your stand.

What have we learned? That you like to read good books (from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins), stay hydrated with lots of water, and invest in antique lamps with eclectic character.
