After a thrilling start to the playoffs this year, with all four Division Series going the distance to Game 5’s, we were treated to two totally different Championship Series which saw the Detroit Tigers convincingly sweep the New York Yankees in the AL, and in the other league, had the San Francisco Giants come back from a 3-1 deficit to overcome the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

The Tigers and Giants got to this point, the 108th Fall Classic, in wholly different manners. The Tigers are based solely around power and speed on both the offensive end with sluggers Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, and their pitching staff with starters Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer consistently hitting mid-90s on the radar gun. The Giants, on the other hand, were built on fantastic starting pitching with the likes of Matt Cain and Ryan Vogelsong, and a strong lock-down bullpen with Sergio Romo and Santiago Casilla closing out games at the end.
