'American Horror Story: Asylum': Zachary Quinto And More Clues From Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy Talks 'American Horror Story' Easter Eggs You Might've Missed

Between a haunting exorcism and a few Bloody Face attacks, it's safe to say Wednesday's episode of "American Horror Story: Asylum" was no walk in the park.

In an interview with EW, series creator Ryan Murphy opened up about how the events of the season's early episodes hold clues about what's to come.

"Dr. Arden's (James Cromwell)'s backstory comes in Episode 4 and 5," Murphy said of the treacherous Briarcliff doctor, whose box of photos of tortured prostitutes was revealed in Episode 2. "But I will say to people, look very closely at the photos in that box. Those are all clues to who he is and what he’s done.

"The fun thing about these episodes is we have a luxury of writing so far ahead that there are little clues in Episode 2," he continued. "What the devil said to Zach [Quinto] and what’s in that box with Dr. Arden comes back and then becomes whole episodes. They are blood-splattered Easter eggs."

There's no doubt that the second season of "American Horror Story" is just as scary -- if not scarier -- than the first. Even the show's actors, including Adam Levine and Connie Britton, have admitted they're too afraid to watch.

"I'm still too scared to watch it," Levine revealed in an interview with MTV, while Britton said, "I’m too scared. I’m just too scared…and I really want to ... I’m going to get somebody and literally make them sit down and watch it with me from start to finish so that I cannot be so scared. I’m such a baby!”

"American Horror Story" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
