Romance isn't dead, ladies.
Transient David James Lee, 44, was charged Sunday evening with disturbing a gravestone after police allegedly caught him with three bunches of flowers with fresh soil still falling from the roots, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Officers say Lee, 44, admitted that he "ripped [the flowers] out of the soil next to a tombstone," and said he had been taking them to give to his girlfriend.
The man was taken to the Duval County Jail on $2,500 bail.
At least he didn't steal from the corpse itself. In September, an English funeral worker was fired after allegedly stealing a purse from a dead body less than an hour after the woman died.
And in February, pawn shop workers in Colorado noticed an embalmer bringing in a suspicious amount of dental gold before the man was accused of stealing false teeth from bodies.
