Obama Votes Early, But Not Before Showing ID (VIDEO)

Obama Gets No Special Treatment Before Voting

President Barack Obama returned to his home city of Chicago on Thursday, taking a brief break from campaigning to vote early.

Obama handed over his absentee ballot to a poll worker, who noted that he would need to show an ID in order to cast it.

"I've got my driver's license," the president said, reaching into his pocket. “Now ignore the fact that there’s no gray hair in that picture.”

While Illinois doesn't have a voter ID law on the books, voters who choose to cast their ballots early are required to show a government-issued photo identification.

The Associated Press reports that Obama is the first sitting presidential nominee to vote early. Read more from their report here.
