Christina Aguilera: I Don't Watch 'The Voice,' Simon Cowell Is A 'Dick'

Christina Aguilera: I Don't Watch 'The Voice'

Christina Aguilera, a coach on "The Voice," doesn't watch her own show. In fact, she doesn't watch singing competition reality shows in general. In an interview with Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter, Aguilera was candid about her take on the genre and its big name: Simon Cowell.

"I've not actually seen a full episode of any of the other music shows," she said. "I saw the commercials early on of 'American Idol' of Simon being a dick. I was like, 'Man, that's not what it's about!' I didn't want to treat people like that. I wanted to do 'The Voice' to show that we can be positive. We don't have to knock people down."

However, Aguilera praised 'Idol' for its ability to shine light on talent.

"Jennifer Hudson came from 'American Idol' and went on to do 'Dreamgirls' and won an Oscar," she said. "I know we all have different formats. I don't even watch my own show: I tape it, I'm out. Time to be mommy and time to work on my record and of course invest time in my team, picking songs. I juggle a lot."

Aguilera will have one less thing to juggle soon. The singer is taking some time off from "The Voice" for the fourth season and will be replaced by Shakira. Fellow coach Cee Lo Green will also bow out of Season 4 with Usher taking his chair.

The "Beautiful" singer isn't the only famous face not to watch her own show. Both Adam Levine and Connie Britton have admitted to not being able to watch "American Horror Story." Click through the slideshow below for more.
