Grand Central Abandoned In Preparation For Hurricane Sandy (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Grand Central Is Eerily Empty

Following Governor Cuomo's order to shut down the MTA in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, employees at Grand Central Terminal closed up early on Sunday.

MTA officials posted photos of the terminal showing an eerily empty space, void of the usual hustle and bustle of commuters.

Hurricane Sandy marks only the second time in the history of New York City's mass transit system that the MTA was ordered to shut down due to a natural disaster. The first time was last summer in anticipation of Hurricane Irene.

Check out the eerie photos below (and be safe!)
