Jeremy Furchtgott, Student, Beaten By Five Men During Hurricane Sandy In New York (VIDEO)

WATCH: 20-Year-Old Student Brutally Beaten By Five Men During Hurricane

A disturbing video has surfaced showing a 20-year-old man being viciously beaten by a group of men in Crown Heights during Hurricane Sandy.

The Daily News reports the surveillance footage captures Jeremy Furchtgott, a Yeshiva student, attempting to rush home before the storm's peak when he was suddenly tripped, beaten on the head and body, and robbed of his $40 and iPhone by five men.

"It was the last thing I was expecting," Furchtgott said. "I found myself on the ground and first thought that I tripped over a branch. Until I heard someone yell, ‘Give me your phone! Give me your wallet.’”

The video shows Furchtgott lying on the ground while one of the assailants slams his head onto the sidewalk.

A man, Sruly Halon, soon discovered Furchtgott lying facedown on the sidewalk.

Due to the number of storm-related calls, dialing 911 proved fruitless. A volunteer soon arrived to help, and contacted police.

Furchtgott decided not to go to the hospital.

His beating wasn't the only instance of violence since Sandy came into town.

There have been numerous reports of widespread looting and violence in Coney Island.

One resident described, "People are turning on each other -- they're attacking each other. Even when there's no disaster, this building is disastrous. But after the hurricane, it just got crazy. We have to get out of here."
