'Boy Meets World' Sequel Series, 'Girl Meets World,' In Development At Disney Channel

Is A 'Boy Meets World' Sequel Series In The Works?

Disney is looking to resurrect another piece of pop culture history. Following the news that the Mouse House had purchased Lucasfilm (and thus, the "Star Wars" franchise) for $4 billion earlier this week, TV Line is reporting that the Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a "Boy Meets World" sequel series.

The show, titled "Girl Meets World," would reportedly center on the preteen daughter of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), the stars of the original series. Sources tell TV Line that the network is currently courting Savage and Fishel to reprise their roles.

"Boy Meets World" ran for seven seasons on ABC from 1993-2000, ending with Cory and Topanga getting married and moving in together. The show's original executive producer, Michael Jacobs, is already in the process of casting the spin-off, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
