Michael Fassbender and Colin Firth go together like Thomas Wolfe and Max Perkins? Apparently so, as the two beloved thespians will play those roles, respectively, in "Genius," a new drama about the famed author and his equally famed editor.

According to THR, the film will focus on the men's "complex relationship." Wolfe, who died when he was just 37, was one of the most acclaimed writers of the early 20th century. He had a contentious-but-respectful relationship with Perkins, who helped shape Wolfe's famed novels "Look Homeward, Angel" and "Of Time and the River."

"Genius" is based on the A. Scott Berg" non-fiction book "Max Perkins: Editor of Genius." Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, the man responsible for "Skyfall," "Hugo," "Coriolanus," "Rango," the upcoming "Noah," the next James Bond films and even "Jersey Boys," which was recently put into turnaround by Warner Bros., wrote the script.

As previously reported by The Playlist, Sean Penn was initially attached to play Perkins.

No word yet on when "Genius" will arrive in theaters. For more on the deal, head over to THR.
