'West Of Memphis' Trailer: Peter Jackson-Produced Doc Takes On West Memphis Three Trial

WATCH: Trailer For Peter Jackson's West Memphis Three Movie

A gripping trailer for "West of Memphis," the documentary Peter Jackson produced about the West Memphis Three, has debuted, offering a glimpse into the chaos and conspiracies surrounding the infamous trial.

"West of Memphis" director Amy Berg appears to have put together a speed-rap of a documentary which focuses on the trial, conviction and eventual release of Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin. The then-teens were found guilty of the murders of three children in West Memphis, Arkansas and freed from prison 17 years later.

In a bizarre twist, the documentary itself has already began to figure into the real life drama surrounding the case. Investigators intrigued by the film are mulling over whether or not to reopen the case. Berg believes such a move would be a big step "in the right direction."

Jackson is hardly the only big name attached to the project. Actor Johnny Depp has also been closely associated with the documentary and the accused gentlemen.

"West of Memphis" will hit theaters on Christmas. Sony Pictures is releasing the film.
