Illinois Polls 2012: Closing Time, Opening Time, And Where To Vote

Are you ready to vote, Illinois?

It's that time. Here's what you need to know for voting on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.

The closing time for Illinois polls is 7 p.m. Central Time; Opening time is set for 6 a.m. local time.

Not sure where to vote? Stop by the Illinois State Board of Elections website, where you'll find a polling place locator.

Approximately 1.2 million Illinois residents have voted already through early voting, according to state officials, about 200,000 more than in 2008.

In the presidential race, the winner of Illinois will be awarded 20 electoral votes. The state has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate every year since 1992 and six of the last seven races.
