Presidential & Senate Races Lean Blue In Michigan Election

On Tuesday, 16 electoral votes are at stake in the Michigan election.

President Barack Obama goes into the contest polling just ahead of Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

In the Great Lakes State Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow appears to be in a strong position to defeat Republican rival former Rep. Pete Hoekstra.

The polls in Michigan are open between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The state is divided between Eastern and Central time zones.
