Utah Election 2012: Orrin Hatch Poised To Win 7th U.S. Senate Term

Hatch Poised To Win 7th Senate Term

Utah Election 2012 followers saw GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch battle through a tough re-election run. That aside, the veteran incumbent is poised to earn his seventh U.S. Senate term.

Hatch has served in the Senate for Utah since January 1977, placing him among the elites in terms of longest service time. He failed to secure the Republican Party's outright nomination in 2012, but easily defeated Tea-Party challenger and former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist in the state's June primary.

As for the presidential-race picture, Mitt Romney is heavily favored over Barack Obama in the race for the state's six electoral votes. In Utah, polls are open between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
