At the 2004 Democratic National Convention, when he stepped into the national spotlight with a captivating address, Barack Obama remarked to Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendell, “I’m Lebron, baby. I can play on this level. I got game.”

Eight years later, President Obama won reelection thanks to his popularity in LeBron James' home state of Ohio. And James took note.

At this point, the Miami Heat star is hoping to be a repeat winner like Obama.

With no "Tuesday Night Football" (yet), MLB into the Hot Stove season, the MLS playoffs taking the night off and just three NBA games scheduled for Election Night, the vast majority of professional athletes were free to watch the results from the presidential election trickle in. Like the rest of us, they helped make Election Night the most tweeted about political event in U.S. history.

Here are some reactions from athletes to Obama's win. There was jubilation among Obama supporters, something else from those who backed Governor Mitt Romney and at least one NFL analyst sending some love to Nate Silver of The New York Times (who sports fans already knew to trust).
