After nearly 11 days since the MTA (wisely) shut down the transit system in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, the L train is finally back!

The MTA announced Thursday afternoon:

L service between Broadway Junction and Manhattan resumed this afternoon, following repair work to components inside the Canarsie Tube, which connects the line between Manhattan’s East Side and Brooklyn’s Greenpoint and Williamsburg neighborhoods. The Canarsie Tube was flooded from end to end with ceiling high water following Hurricane Sandy last week.

Following last week's devastating storm, New York City's subway system witnessed unprecedented flooding, and the L train was among the hardest-hit.

Limited service to most of the city's other lines slowly began to come back to life last Thursday, except for the G and L trains, leaving North Brooklyn scrambling.

The G train finally resumed service on Monday.
