Man Beaten During Giants World Series Celebration Dies

Sean Moffitt, a San Francisco resident who suffered traumatic head injuries during the street celebrations following the Giants' World Series victory, has died.

The 37-year old Moffitt returned home from the chaos and told his roommate he had been assaulted on the 1500 block of Haight Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Moffitt had said he was surrounded by a number of people and beaten about the head with a metal object.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital the following morning, after his roommate saw his condition has deteriorated. Moffitt passed away on October 30, with reports of his death surfacing on Thursday.

The San Francisco Police Department believes there's a possibility that Moffitt's injuries stemmed from an accident but are waiting to receive autopsy results to know for sure.

"The victim may have fallen during the celebration and sustained serious injury," Officer Gordon Shyy told SF Weekly.

No arrests have been made in the case nor has a suspect description been made public.
