'Beauty & The Beast' Gets Full Season Order From The CW

The CW has ordered a full season of its freshman fairy tale-based procedural drama "Beauty & the Beast," the network announced Friday.

The show has averaged 2.9 million viewers in its five episodes so far this season, and has recently shown some positive momentum in the ratings, gaining 9 percent viewership in its most recent episode. "Beauty & the Beast" is also performing well with female young adult viewers, a key demographic for The CW, scoring a 1.3 rating among women ages 18-34.

"Beauty & the Beast" stars Kristen Kreuk and Jay Ryan in an updated take on the 1980s procedural of the same name. Kreuk plays Detective Catherine Chandler, who witnessed her mom's murder as a teen, but was saved by a mysterious vigilante. Ryan plays Vincent Keller (a.k.a the beast), a military doctor who was subjected to genetic experiments and turned into a volatile super-soldier while serving in Afghanistan.

"Beauty And The Beast" airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
