Dual-Textured Hair At Cynthia Rowley, Rag & Bone And More Spring 2013 Shows (PHOTOS)

I can always tell if it's going to be a bad hair day when I wake up, look into my bedroom mirror and see Gumby hair (flat on the sides and poofy everywhere else). Even though I've mastered a hair routine that involves stepping into the shower and allowing my curly 'fro to revive itself with a bit of steam, there are times when I'd rather sport an awkwardly shaped hairdo. Ironically, dual-textured hair was all the rage on the spring 2013 runways.

Drawing inspiration from the contrasting fabrics found in Cynthia Rowley's collection, lead hairstylist Esther Langham perfected "the ultimate hat-head" by applying Alterna Bamboo Volume Uplifting Root Blast on damp roots, then crimping and backcombing the lower-half to create a feathery, static bounce. Redken's mane man Guido Palau continued this wet/dry theme at Rag & Bone using a combination of Hardwear 16 gel, Forceful 26 finishing spray and a flat iron. Kérastase's Elixir Ultime The Imperial hair oil was Odile Gilbert's go-to for the dual-textured 'dos at Thakoon. While backstage at Missoni, Eugene Souleiman flattened the front of the models' hair with Wella Professionals Curl Craft Wax Mousse and left the bottom flowing to make them look like "ethereal athletes." That's a lot of slicked-back heads!
