Detroit Public Schools Board Votes To Cut Ties To Educational Authority

Lawsuit Could End Detroit's EAA School District

Detroit -- A week after voters overturned Public Act 4, the Detroit Board of Education voted Tuesday night to break the district's contract with Eastern Michigan University and withdraw from the Education Achievement Authority.

The move could spell the end of Michigan's statewide recovery school district.

"Everything is for the benefit of the children," board president LaMar Lemmons said.
