Kelly Clarkson & Autotune: Singer Can't Listen To Her Own Music

Why Kelly Clarkson 'Can't Listen To' Her Own Music

Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol and champion of the lady anthem, isn't exactly bumping "Since U Been Gone."

"Sometimes, I can't listen to really old school songs ... because they just use so much autotune when it's not needed that it kills me. I can't listen to it," Clarkson said in an interview with CNN. "What I love about that though is on songs like 'Miss Independent,' not only was it autotune, I just sounded different, I sounded so young."

The singer released her first album, "Thankful," in 2003. In the near-decade since, Clarkson has released four other records, and has been met with largely positive critical reception -- winning 12 Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, and six Teen Choice Awards.

Clarkson is releasing a compilation CD, "Greatest Hits - Chapter 1," on Nov. 19. The album features some of her favorites such as "Miss Independent," "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," and "Behind These Hazel Eyes," as well as some new tracks.
