'Twilight' & PETA: Movie Under Fire For Animal Rights Violation

Controversy At 'Twilight' Premiere Party

The latest -- and last -- "Twilight" movie is under major fire from PETA.

The animal rights organization spoke out against the treatment of wolves at the premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2." The after-party, organized by Summit, featured multiple caged wolves, with a nod to the werewolves in the movie.

"Didn't it dawn on the 'Twilight' event organizers that real wolves do not belong at a party with blaring music and flashing lights?" a PETA spokeswoman said in a statement to TheWrap.

In an interesting twist, one of the franchise's stars was recently at the center of an ad campaign for PETA supporting vegetarianism and denouncing circuses.

"These animals are ripped away at very young ages and trained to do really ridiculous stunts and tricks that most people don't even actually enjoy," co-star Christian Serratos said in a new ad. "They're beaten and essentially tortured for something that a 2-year-old won't even understand."
