The stir Barbara Walters caused when she announced that the Kardashians were among her "10 Most Fascinating People" of 2011 was nothing compared to what could happen if it is revealed that Honey Boo Boo is on her list for 2012.
"The unreleased names are a closely guarded secret. But you wouldn't be wrong in reporting that Honey Boo Boo is one of them," said one ABC insider.
“Barbara is a genius and knows controversy sells,” the source tells me. “Plus, she is right -- who has received more attention this year than Honey Boo Boo?”
However, Walters has denied on The View that Honey Boo Boo made the list.
For the past 20 seasons, the TV legend has picked the biggest names in entertainment, sports and pop culture and invited them to sit down with her for her 90-minute TV special.
This year's list of confirmed participants includes Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; Olympic gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas; the British boy band One Direction; Academy Award winner Ben Affleck, Seth MacFarlane of “Family Guy" and EL James, the author of Fifty Shades of Grey. However, Barbara always keeps a few names secret -- including who will be her No. 1 most fascinating person.
The "10 Most Fascinating People" special is scheduled to air at 9:30 p.m. EST on Dec. 12 on ABC.
