Rain Phoenix, Former Red Hot Chili Peppers Backup Singer, Shows Off Her Tomboy Style (VIDEO)

We're seriously jealous.

"I want to be in love with what I do at all times and I want to stay in love." Although musician and singer Rain Phoenix has adopted this motto when it comes to her career, we think her fiery passion has seeped into all areas of her life.

The Los Angeles native got her start playing music with her late brother, River Phoenix, before nabbing her big break singing backup for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Since then she has gone on to create her own studio project, Papercranes, a multi-platform artist residency where she partners with different musicians to create music, as well as films like "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" and "Hitch."

Although music is Rain's biggest passion, when she recently invited Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum of StyleLikeU into her LA home, her carefully curated closet made us realize how much this star is undoubtedly linked to fashion.

Every item in Phoenix's closet tells a story (real or imagined). She has a black wide-brimmed hat that makes her feel like "maybe [she] could have made out with Bob Dylan," a bright orange jumpsuit that reminds her a lot of Bianca Jagger and, our personal favorite, a long lace dress that evokes a "Little House on the Prairie" vibe. As she has gotten older, Phoenix has learned to become more vulnerable and has gained the confidence to wear what she likes. And we couldn't' agree more -- after all, her perforated jumpsuit is not for the faint of heart.

Watch the video above to find out why she considers herself to be "a bit gypsy."
