War Of Words: Social Media At The Forefront Of Gaza Conflict

Ahmed Shihab-Eldin hosted a segment on HuffPost Live to discuss how social media is being used by reporters, civilians, and even the military during the conflict in Israel and Palestine.

Shihab-Eldin asked guest Emily Hauser, a blogger at the Daily Beast's Open Zion, what she thought of the Israeli Defense System’s use of Twitter to warn journalist of strike locations.

“How do you stay away from everyone in your society?” Hauser responded. “How do you run away when your country, so to speak, is the size of Philadelphia and there’s a fence around it? And as Ayman said in that tweet in response, if you’re a reporter there covering a story, how do you cover the story without talking to an entire side for fear of your own life?”

Shihab-Eldin was also joined by Ahna Momigliano, Senior Editor at Studio Mag, Matan Lurey, a blogger and software engineer, Mathew Ingram, a senior writer at GigaOm, and Shira Aver-bock, a singer and writer.
