Walmart, the world's largest retailer, will open to Black Friday shoppers at 8 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving -- two hours earlier than last year.

The chain is facing backlash over its decision to open earlier from employees who have to work on Thanksgiving and others who blame the company for spoiling a national holiday.

Walmart workers plan to strike at 1,000 store locations nationwide on Black Friday.

Walmart will be open until 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

The retailer hasn't let activism stand in the way of one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Here's a look at Walmart's Black Friday deals:
