Anders Breivik Video Appears To Show Extremist's Attack On Norway Government Headquarters (VIDEO)

Norway's public broadcaster NRK has released the first footage of the attack on the Norwegian government's headquarters by extremist Anders Behring Breivik in July 2011.

The video, shot by surveillance cameras in and around the government building, appears to show the blast and its aftermath from various angles. The footage purports to show Breivik park a van that carried explosives.

NRK's Brennpunkt ("Focal Point") show will air the videos on Tuesday.

Breivik confessed to the July 22, 2011 attacks in which he detonated a car bomb near Norway's government headquarters. The blast killed eight and wounded nearly 200. Breivik later shot and killed 69 people during a gathering of the Labor party's youth wing on the island of Utoya.

The Associated Press reported during his trial, "Breivik said he was acting in defense of Norway by targeting the left-wing political party he accused of betraying the country with liberal immigration policies."

According to Le Huffington Post, the attack footage was shown during Breivik's trial in Oslo, but this marks the first time the videos will be broadcast publicly.

Breivik was convicted in August 2012 of massacring 77 people and received a prison sentence between 10 and 21 years, the maximum sentence allowed under Norwegian law.
