Football Player Says He 'Doesn't Agree' With Being Gay Or Lesbian

An NFL linebacker is feeling the heat in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) blogosphere after a series of controversial tweets which some have deemed anti-gay.

As Outsports' Cyd Zeigler Jr. first reported, Tank Carder of the Cleveland Browns got into a heated exchange on Twitter before labeling one user a "faggot."

Though that original tweet has since been deleted, Carder -- who was selected in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and signed with the Browns in September -- faced a barrage of criticism from other users, after which he responded:

Not surprisingly, that remark was also quickly slammed. In response to another tweet, he also noted:

The Cleveland Browns quickly distanced themselves from Carder's remarks in a brief statement. “These comments are certainly not reflective of the Cleveland Browns organization, nor do we condone them in any fashion,” Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis is quoted by CBS as saying. “We have spoken with Tank and have made this very clear to him.”

Outsports is calling on the NFL to suspend Carder for a game for using the slur. Meanwhile, Carder has since apologized for his remarks on Twitter:
